Angelababy and Stephen Fung have been promoting their martial arts film franchise, Tai Chi, across Asia. Angelababy glows in a dress from the Elie Saab 2012 Fall Collection. Although the gown looked too mature for the 23-year-old, the cut did cling to her chest and hips accordingly.

Sandrine Pinna exuded classic glamour in a Burberry Prorsum gold lace dress. The structured bodice with its demi cups appeared ill-fitting on Sandrine’s chest, otherwise the gown drapes beautifully from the waist down. Sandrine completed the look with beautiful strappy gold heels.

Denise Ho commanded attention in her raspberry-colored Alexander McQueen dress with cinched belt. The gown has a deceptively simple drape and clean bodice, and Denise kept her accessories to a minimum. Her blonde hair and glamorous eye makeup suited the look perfectly.

Although Gwei Lun Mei won the Best Actress award for her performance in Girlfriend, Boyfriend, her Alexander McQueen gown was an underwhelming choice. Denise Ho’s gown easily stole more attention with its bold color, while Angelababy and Sandrine Pinna’s gowns out-sparkled Gwei Lun Mei’s flat palette.

Sonia Sui’s aqua and black ruffled dress was an interesting choice, but not exactly red carpet standard. The loud color choice simply reminds you of a nylon bi-colored jogging set.

Dada Chen’s dress was ill-fitting on her, as the cups in her bodice were obviously made for a slimmer figure. The dress’ rounded feathery bottom immediately made me think of an ostrich.

Amy Kwok and Sean Lau dressed conservatively, although Sean ended up taking the Best Actor award home for his performance in Life Without Principle. Amy has always worn black at red carpet events and her appearance at the Golden Horse Awards were underwhelming and somewhat matronly.

Between Sean Lau and Andy Lau, Andy’s fashionable navy suit was the red carpet winner. Andy has acquired a taste for fine suits for every occasion.

The worst dressed of the evening standing side by side. Jackie Chan wears yet another Nehru collar suit with an almost comical effect. While many of Li Bingbing’s Gucci sponsored gowns look fantastic, this jade-colored silk dress made her look shapeless and sickly. A cinched belt and shortened hem would have given more balanced proportion and possibly saved the ensemble.

Joey Yung appeared stunning in a shimmery Burberry coat, carrying a metallic tangerine clutch purse, available for $1,295 USD.

Huang Xiaoming looks fantastic in a purple satin suit that few men would be able to pull off. Maggie Cheung looks fashionably comfortable in at matching geometric cotton shirt ($650 USD) and silk shorts ($550 USD); both available from Burberry.com.

Korean stars, Choi Soo Young and Kwon Yuri look lovely in classically tailored dresses. Kwon Yuri’s white peplum jersey dress with sleeve detail is available for $1,095 USD from Burberry.com. Kwon Yuri is carrying the same metallic clutch bag as Joey Yung, but in a gold color.

Denise Ho looks fashionably trendy in a striped suit and pants, while good friend Anthony Wong steals the gold in metallic trendy coat.

The lovely ladies modeled clothing from the Fall/Winter collection for Atsuro Tamaya, which is characterized by loose, casual shapes that emphasize comfort.

Myolie Wu appears in a black wool coat with color blocks that is functional and high style.

As TVB’s fastest rising stars this year, Christine Kuo and Eliza Sam have been making numerous joint promotional appearances together. Dubbed as “Goddesses” by Hong Kong male fans, Christine and Eliza staved off rivalry rumors and looked cozy together in their fur wraps.

Yumiko Cheng’s red fur drape is difficult to pull off, as in most bold colored fur pieces.  The look is best saved for rock shows.

BEST DRESSED: ALICE CHAN

Alice Chan was the best dressed of the night, wearing a pastel pink one shoulder gown that was subtly elegant. At 38 years old, Alice Chan still looks fresh and in great shape, a truly everlasting “Goddess” among many of TVB’s beautiful women.

Rebecca Zhu’s gray-blue dress has an appealing neckline, but her face looks pale, likely due to the pain from her back injury earlier. JJ Jia looks stunning in a dress sponsored by Kir Royal.

Good friends, Ben Wong and Kevin Cheng, wore different hues of red tuxedos, except Kevin decided to leave his socks home. Bosco Wong looked handsome in a navy plaid three-piece suit from Hackett-London, while Michael Tse did not lose his sparkle.

Sharon Chan towers over Ben Wong here due to her 5-inch high heels. Love Sharon’s glamorous makeup, but the red gown unnecessarily ages her. Selena Li looks uninspiring in a black lace and lavender dress that appears to be from several seasons ago.

Carol Cheng always makes elegant gown choices that look good on her.

Anchored by Liza Wang, we have a sea of bright hues in orange, red and yellow.

Kristal Tin wore one of many red dresses at the Anniversary Gala. She looked beautiful, but her gown did look too monochrome with an overly busy skirt.

Linda Chung’s black and white dress is a tribute to old world glamour.  The dress has few interesting details other than the split skirt and was rather plain.

Christine Kuo’s gown comes with heavy doses of pink innocence, which does not put forth her greater beauty. This gown screams Angelababy, and Christine would have benefited from wearing a gown with a simpler silhouette to show off her hour-glass figure. With the flyaway hair and pale makeup, Christine made an underwhelming impression.

Aimee Chan stands out with her thigh-high garnet sequin dress that likely had boyfriend, Moses Chan following her legs all night. A beautiful dress that not many can pull off like Aimee. Natalie Tong’s sheer pink dress is very feminine, but fades too easily into the background. Selena Li’s ”flower girl” dress dated and should never have made its appearance on the red carpet. Yoyo Chen’s dress is too busy with an overdose of pinched ruffles at the hip and train.

Christine Ng wore a bold rainbow zebra-striped sequin dress that was fun and modern, which was sponsored by Harvey Nichols. Christine’s trendy dress stood out from a sea of monochrome-colored, long-skirted gowns at the Anniversary Gala.

Shirley Yeung’s dress looks uncomfortable to wear, with a too-tight bodice and mermaid dress with pinched ruffles.

WORST DRESSED

The pattern and cut of Kate Tsui’s dress, along with her feathery headgear, sent her straight back to the 1920s. A very odd wardrobe choice for Kate who has been rocking recent carpet events with more trendy choices. Raymond Lam looks beautiful on the other hand in his blue velvet suit.

Natalie Tong looks nice in an fairy-light sheer pink gown, but Ruco Chan just aged himself by at least a decade in the tapestry print jacket. The jacket belongs on a much, much older actor twice his age.

With a total of three nightclubs under its brand–including Muse, M2, Park97–Muse has become the foremost and most exciting nightclub destination in Shanghai. Muse features extravagantly designed VIP theme rooms that make homage to various venerable alcoholic brands such as Jack Daniels.

On opening night, Carina Lau wore a flirty dress with half-circle cut-outs. The lilac color was pretty, but the neckline was cut dangerously low.

Bosco Wong respected the occasion by wearing a skirt! Did Bosco get his seasons mixed up? He looked overly “hot” by bundling from head-to-toe with a leather jacket, long skirt, pants, and lace up boots! A pool of sweat was already building around his neck! With Bosco’s tabloid rumors claiming that he was a regular at nightclub destinations, his attire surely did not prove that he was an experienced clubber!

Hong Kong model, Kathy Chow, looked lovely in a aqua dress with pearlescent sheen. Kathy opted for peep-toe pumps that completed her refreshing look.

Model, Qin Shupei, shined in a buttery yellow draped dress. Her sandals with gladiator-inspired ankle cuffs added an intensity to her outfit, which would have looked more appropriate with a leather top.

Taiwanese actress, Alyssa Chia, opted for bold accessories to liven an otherwise boring black and white ensemble. Her earrings resembled a chemical molecule, while there appeared to be two horse tails swishing from the sides of her outrageous belt!

Look closely at the ladies’ wrists and you will notice that they are all wearing trendy Tendence watches in different colors!

Pace’s halter-style dress features innovative use of floral and abstract patterns reminiscent of Japanese handmade gift wrapping  paper. The pattern mix is beautiful, but the long train at the side would have been better if snipped off entirely. The bold pattern speaks for itself and a simpler silhouette would make the dress more desirable.

Fan Bingbing looked like a green spring fairy! She wore a striking embellished dress from the Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear Collection. The jadeite color of the dress, coupled with the multi-colored flowers offered great textural interest and a whimsical romantic touch.

Often collaborating with Louis Vuitton, Bingbing carried a Louis Vuitton Alma MM bag in green leather, a bag in which she owns in a myriad of colors. Is this Bingbing’s favorite bag?

Is there ever a bad picture of 40-year-old Taiwanese actor, Hu Bing? He looks dashing with a thin mustache and chiseled looks. The only other man that can look equally good in Hu Bing’s suit would be Aaron Kwok!

Many Chinese media sources covering the Louis Vuitton Store Opening focused on Gong Li’s cleavage, which is well displayed in this black lace dress, with thigh high slit. This look has been done countless times and thus, not truly an original in concept. Gold heels would also have looked nicer with the dress, instead of the current silver ones.

Bernice Liu shined in a leather zipper dress with silver accents at the waist. She carried an Escada baguette clutch in pastel calfskin. Bernice wore lace up leather plateau sandals, from Escada’s Spring/ Summer 2012 Collection. The sandals add a structured and textured look to the outfit, complementing the loose cut of her dress well.

Twenty-three-year-old Janice Man looked all grown up in a collarless fitted jacket, in snow-leopard print from the Escada Pre/Fall 2012 Collection. The jacket is well paired with pale grey cigarette pants. Janice’s bright red lipstick and pulled back hair added old Hollywood glamour to the look.

Due to their age, perhaps Bernice and Janice should have swapped outfits instead. Bernice would have carried the mature look of Janice’s fitted jacket ensemble better.

Carrie Lam appeared runway ready in an Escada gown with draped neckline and necklace halter detail from the Pre/Fall 2012 Collection. The raspberry color is lovely and Carrie’s height displayed the elegant drape of the dress well.

As bright as Carrie shone in her raspberry dress, another Hong Kong supermodel, Gaile Lok appeared in a blaze of emerald. Gaile’s blouse has an interesting layered front panel and sheer sleeves, however the flared pants made her feet disappear.

The monochromatic green outfit delivered too much color and would have looked better paired with a light gray skirt instead. Or wear it with a skinny gold belt to break up the top and pants, adding more definition to the waistline.

Although the stars of Switch opted to wear formal evening wear at the press conference, their choices were far from classy. The fabric of Zhang Jingchu’s brown paisley dress is dated and reminiscent of “grandma’s” couch. The cut-out panels in Jingchu’s dress do not make it appear any more youthful.

Chiling Lin’s dress appears to be the same dress she wears in the actual film. The dress has a strappy cut-out panel and sweeping train in the back. Chiling has appeared in far more elegant creations in the past. This silver dress appears to try to hard and lacks elegance, revealing too much skin in a call for attention!

Andy Lau would have looked suave in a monochrome-colored tuxedo, in either white or black. Tossing the bow tie and undoing a few neck buttons would have added to the easy style, rather than trying to achieve a red carpet look, when there was no awards ceremony in sight!

Making the above wardrobe changes may result in a more winning look for the Switch cast, rather than their current awkward choices.
