At the 40th Anniversary of Joyce Boutiques, Miriam Yeung wore a black velvet Givenchy dress from the Fall 2010 Ready to Wear Collection. Combining velvet with a sheer shoulder panel, this geometric Givenchy dress made a bold statement. The back of the skirt was cut longer to show off the contrasting red fabric.

Miriam looked stylish with pulled back hair and red lipstick, but she should have opted for simple black heels instead! Here is the runway look!

She looks good until my eyes reach the shoes.

    2. impmuse says:

Runway model looks way better – she has the height and shape to wear a dress that’s hard to pull off. Miriam’s poor choice of shoes top off a look that does nothing for her.

    3. Jayne says:

The geometric lines of the dress and loose cutting do not demand the wearer to have a lot of curves. Most curves would have been lost in the loose fit anyway. I think Miriam has a decent pair of legs to wear the short dress. It’s just the gold heels were too strong.

I can also see Charlene Choi pulling off this style successfully and she’s petite.

The problem with Asian stars wearing international designers is that most of the styles, cutting, fitting, etc. is made for western women who are taller and perhaps more full figured.

Miriam actually wears a lot of top designer labels. She’s really lucky if she gets it free from the designers to wear for endorsement purposes! She tends to wear a lot of loose clothing with bold designs to take attention away from her figure, which is not considered buxom. This Givenchy dress is actually quite forgiving on Miriam’s figure than more fitted clothes such as Louis Vuitton.

      Your explanation makes sense, Jayne.

I just think that Miriam doesn’t look good in the dress, it doesn’t suit her!

But she looks great in the Burberry trench – now this trench is a fantastic choice for her. She looks petite/suits her frame and the colour is gorgeous!

    5. Angela says:

Miriam did not pull the dress well…her outfit looks to flat as it did not show any curves. Her red lipstick was the focus than the expensive dress. The model looked better.
